Hello Gundam fans, first and foremost we’d like to wish you all a Happy New Year! 2024 marks the 20th anniversary for Gundam Mad with it being our 15th year at the helm. As such we have some big announcements and hope it will all get our fans excited for the upcoming year and beyond.
Day of the Gundam
So this is the big one for us, Gundam Mad are planning to run their own convention next year! The proposed event will be called Day Of The Gundam (D.O.T.G for short) and will be a single day event full of a whole host of activities ranging from workshops, special guests, screenings, competitions, panels, activities, freebies, event exclusive items and a whole host more. Obviously there will also be a huge dealer room containing our biggest set up ever (this includes our MCM ones) providing you with a whole array of Gunpla Goodness, general Gundam Related merchandise and the best the Japanese modelling scene has to offer.
At present we are trying to gather the interest levels in the event for next year so we would like people who are keen to attend to please go the D.O.T.G website and register your interest. You will then at a later point receive a short questionnaire which will gather some details about people’s interest in the event, what activities you are all interested in and your locations throughout the UK so that we can work out a suitable venue for the event.
We are very excited to be taking on a new challenge and bringing something to the fans we have been wanting to do for well over a decade. We love our fans and definitely want to give them all an experience they’ll never forget.
Change of Working Hours
Relating to the above; this year (and possibly beyond) Gundam Mad will be trialling a reduced working hours system. This is in order to give us more time to focus on the planning for the event and to generally improve efficiency when dealing with non-packing related duties. As such going forward from the 22nd of January Gundam Mad will now be open during our normal working ours of 9am – 5pm, Tuesday – Friday. We will no longer be open on Mondays. This means that any orders placed on the site after 11am on a Friday will be shipped out the following Tuesday instead of the usual Monday.
Other than this no changes will be implemented, orders placed before 11am on our normal working days (Tuesday-Friday) will be dispatched the same day and after this time will move onto the next working day. We will still answer emails in the same manner and treat Mondays as a weekend and urgent queries can be dealt with via our Facebook. We realise it may be a little disappointing to some customers that we will not be open as often but we are hoping the new layout will allow us the time to plan and create the best event possible as well as giving us the ability to improve the site and services we have offered for the past 20 years.
If anyone is unsure about the changes and needs further clarification our Terms & Conditions have been updated and will contain full details of the new set up.
20th Anniversary Promotion
And finally, as stated this year marks the 20th Anniversary of Gundam mad! As a special treat to all our fans, and as a little thank you for all your support over the past two decades we will be running a special raffle every month on all orders placed on the site. Each month one lucky winner will receive a Free limited edition Gunpla kit worth over £100 that is NOT available to buy anywhere else (well, they aren’t supposed to be sold anyway). They will be special event limited editions and one lucky winner each month will receive one of these awesome kits as a thanks for their support. You don’t have to do anything extra special in order to win, all orders placed on the website each month (including those already placed this January) will count towards that months draw, and we’ll announce a winner each month on our Facebook page. It’s just a little way of saying thanks to all our fans out there for all their support and positivity over the years.
